Greatest Achievement In Life: Foundation Of God
What’s Your Greatest Achievement in Life? This question used to leave me puzzled during job interviews when I was younger. I didn’t think I had achieved much at that point.
So, on the spot, I would say something like, “Well, making it to the 12th grade.” After graduating, that did feel like my greatest achievement. But that answer eventually changed.
Even after years of accomplishing what I thought were my biggest challenges, like completing school, the answer stayed the same—until recently. It wasn’t my struggle with infertility, which lasted three years, that changed it.
It wasn’t even overcoming my doubts about God, though that was a significant part of my journey. I realized my foundation in God was stronger than I’d ever imagined.
No, my answer changed the moment I heard my little girl pray. That was when I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that giving her a foundation in God was my greatest achievement.
Greatest Achievement As A Parent
As a parent, I often question if I’m doing things right. After every decision, I wonder if my child will grow into the person God intended her to be.
This isn’t to say she won’t make mistakes—nor will I as a parent. Life has its pressures, and it’s easy to get caught up in the daily grind.
The world’s values can overwhelm us, making us focus on things like education, friendships, activities, and health. While all of these are important, they shouldn’t be the primary focus.
Building A Foundation In God
Building a strong foundation of God is of utmost importance to me as a parent. It goes beyond mere religious activities and rituals.
I firmly believe in Matthew 6:33, which emphasizes the need to prioritize seeking the kingdom of God above all else.
By instilling this faith-based foundation in my child, I am confident that all other aspects of her life will naturally fall into place. This is the legacy I am most proud to pass on.
Building On Examples in Christ
I’ve come to realize it extends to how I treat people and how much love I show to others. My actions speak louder than any words I can say, and I want to model the kind of love Christ teaches us to live out.
I’ve always been someone who loves to joke and play around with my peers. Knowing that she’s watching me has made me more conscious of how I act.
There are moments where I’ve had to remove myself or her from the situation. Not because the joking is wrong, but because I don’t want her to misunderstand.
As a child, she might not grasp that adults joke with each other differently. She could think I’m being serious and believe it’s okay to repeat.
Being that she is a child and doesn’t understand that they are adults. It’s important to me that she learns the difference. While understanding that our words and actions should always reflect kindness. Even when we’re just having fun.
An Example Of Christ
Often, we forget that people who have faith in Jesus Christ don’t always start out that way. Many of us, at some point, acted contrary to the faith—unknowingly living as atheists in our own hearts—simply because we lacked examples of Christ in our lives.
Being that example, both for my child and for others, is what truly matters. It’s not just about attending Sunday service or reading my Bible. It’s about how I respond to challenges, the compassion I show others, and my reliance on prayer in difficult times.
These are the things people notice most, and I want my child to witness them firsthand. My hope is that, through this foundation of God, my child will develop their own unshakable faith and always know that no matter what life brings, they are never alone.
The Greatest Gift One Could Give
As parents, our ultimate goal is to provide our children with every possible advantage. However, for me, nothing surpasses the profound peace that comes from knowing my child walks in the footsteps of Christ.
If I accomplish nothing else in this life, introducing my child to Jesus and nurturing their unshakable faith in God is the greatest gift I could offer.
In a world of uncertainty, the unwavering truth and love of Christ provide a foundation that ensures my child will never walk alone.
